During the hot summer months it is important to mix up your workout habits as the temperature rises. The summer brings 100+ temperatures that Arizona is known for, which leaves you without many opportunities for outdoor activity. However, that does not mean you enjoy physical activity! Here Dr. Steve, Director of Patient Wellness at Optimal Heart Attack and Stroke Prevention Center, shares some summer fitness tips to keep your health a priority during hotter temperatures.
• Take it indoors – Find an activity that you like and can do inside. Arizona malls can be a great location to walk a long distance – in air conditioning!
• Use your pool – Physical activity in the pool can be fun and fulfilling. You can swim laps, run, or do water aerobics.
• Take a “Stay-Cation” – Head to the high mountains and enjoy a weekend in nature. Not only will you enjoy cooler temperatures, but also it will help reduce your stress levels as you get away from the day-to-day.
